The BLS Instructor Essentials Course certifies the student to teach the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare provider course and the skills check. It also includes the ability to conduct the AHA Heartsaver courses including First-Aid, CPR, AED, Pediatric First-Aid, CPR in Schools, Bloodborne Pathogens and Family and Friends CPR.
The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is taught in a blended learning format. AHA BLS Instructor candidates must complete both the Heartsaver and BLS Instructor Essentials online courses, followed by the hands-on session conducted by BLS Training Faculty.
Bring the following items to the hands-on BLS session:
- BLS Instructor Manual (included in the cost of the course)
- Current BLS Provider Card
- Heartsaver and BLS Instructor Essentials (Online) Completion Certificates
- Photo ID
Additional items:
NOTE: The BLS Essentials and Heartsaver Essentials are online prerequisites and must be completed prior to taking the hands-on BLS Instructor Course.
Once you are a credentialed instructor, before you start teaching classes, you will need to purchase BLS videos (there are 3 options provided).
