The ACLS Instructor  Course is taught in a blended learning format. For successful completion, instructor candidates must complete course prerequisites and requirements:

Course Prerequisite:

  1. Have a current AHA ACLS Provider status and be proficient in all ACLS skills and bring this certification card with you to the class.
  2. Successfully complete the ACLS Instructor Essentials Course (online). Print this certificate and bring it with you to the classroom session.

Class and Monitoring Requirements:

  1. Successfully complete the classroom session in which we will accept you into our AHA Training Center (if you don't already have one) you will complete the AHA Instructor Candidate Application.
  2. Monitor (assist teaching) an ACLS Provider Course (usually scheduled on the same day and immediately after instructor course. 

 

ACLS Instructor Initial / Renewal

The ACLS Renewal Instructor Course is a combination of online and hand-on learning. Instructor candidates must complete course monitoring requirements and prerequisites:

Monitoring Requirements:

  • Monitor and assist in teaching an ACLS Provider Course. Typically, this is scheduled on the same day and immediately after the instructor course.
  • Once the classroom session is completed, we will accept you into our AHA Training Center (if you don’t already have one) where you will complete the AHA Instructor Candidate Application.

  • Successfully complete the ACLS Instructor Essentials Online Course. Print this certificate and bring it with you to the classroom session.
  • Have a current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Provider status and be proficient in all ACLS skills. Bring this certification card with you to the class.

 

 

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Essentials

The ACLS Instructor Essentials Course is taught in a blended learning format.  

AHA ACLS Instructor candidates must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on session conducted by ACLS Training Center Faculty.

You will also need to purchase the ACLS/ACLS EP Instructor Essentials Course DVD (AHA product #15-1068).

We are now offering our ACLS Instructor Renewal Course live in our EMR Online Training Room.

 

The ACLS instructor renewal online course will be combined with the live skills check. The skills check will be at the end of your instructor renewal class. You must be prepared to stay for the entire meeting as you will learn from the presentations and get feedback from the TCF leading the class, as well as from your peers.

 

ACLS skills checks require two students (one for CPR and one as the team leader being tested; 3 is even better) and you as the instructor.

The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as the team leader. Students will learn the:

  • Importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival
  • Integration of effective basic life support with ACLS interventions
  • Importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

Upon successful completion of this entire course, the students receive an AHA ACLS Provider course completion CPR eCard valid for 2 years.

Heartcode ACLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s ACLS Course. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session.  

This blended learning course requires prior knowledge of ACLS and may be better suited to students renewing their course completion card versus those taking an ACLS Course for the first time.

Includes 10 in-hospital patient cases. Individual scenarios within each case may vary depending on the learner to maximize the learning opportunities and mimic the variation of real-life scenarios.  

A summary of critical concepts is provided for each eSimulation case and virtual debriefings immediately after each eSimulation.  The course provides online access to the ACLS Provider Manual and the 2015 Handbook of ECC.

There is a multiple-choice, 50-question exam to test cognitive knowledge you must pass.  Students may access all information included in HeartCode ACLS for 24 months (two years) following activation of course.

HeartCode® ACLS Provider – Skill Check – Advanced Cardiac Life Support – SK101

This 30-minute session is taken once the on-line portion is completed. You can register for an in-person skills check session below. Please bring your Photo I.D. and a copy of the course completion certificate.

 After completing the online portion, students attend a structured ACLS Provider Hands-On Session with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing.

The ACLS Experienced Provider key provides access to the Online ACLS-EP Exam.

Candidates seeking entry into an AHA ACLS EP Course must first pass this exam with a minimum score of 84% to attend the ACLS EP Course.

Upon successful completion of the  Online Exam, a certificate of completion will be available for candidates to print.

ACLS EP Course candidates must present their certificate at their ACLS EP Course. Candidates have two attempts to pass the exam before a new exam key is required. If an exam key is lost, a new exam key is required.

 

 

HeartCode® BLS

HeartCode BLS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills.

After completing the online portion, students attend a structured BLS Hands-On Session (sold seperatly) with an AHA Instructor. This session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing. Where available, students may also complete the hands-on session with a voice-assisted manikin (VAM).

HeartCode BLS is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal BLS Course.

The Skills Session is not included in the price.

The American Heart Associations BLS Provider Course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.

In this Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing as well as completing a written exam.

In this Instructor-led renewal course, students are taught in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students will work with an Instructor to practice BLS Skills, take a skills test and complete a written exam. Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Online teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. This course provides students with the convenience of completing the course at their own pace wherever they have access to the Internet. It includes interactive exercises and videos to engage students and provide periodic points of knowledge transference, along with audio and transcript for students who may have a hearing or visual disability, and much more.

The Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course was designed specifically for workers with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as correctional officers, childcare workers, security guards, maintenance workers, school personnel, hotel housekeepers, health and fitness club staff, and tattoo artists.

Heartsaver® CPR/AED – Online  OC109

Heartsaver CPR/AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver CPR/AED blended learning course and is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.

This course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. After course completion, students will be able to:

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize when someone needs CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
  • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
  • Give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult

Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.

 

This course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. The course includes:

  • First-Aid basics
  • Medical emergencies
  • Injury emergencies
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Preventing illness and injury

Leadership Course - Online - LED100

Opioid Education for Healthcare Providers is a self-directed, eLearning course and is for use by a single student that includes modules such as recognition and treatment of opioid overdose (use of CPR and reversal agents), details of the opioid epidemic and opioid use disorder, pathophysiology of pain and opioids leading to addiction, and managing acute pain with alternative pain management options.

This 30 minute long course educates participants in the pathophysiology of opioid overdose; special considerations on how to care for overdose patients, including naloxone administration; recognizing the need for high-quality CPR; and use of a defibrillator.

The AHA’s Opioid Education for Healthcare Providers Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need an understanding of the opioid epidemic, pathophysiology of opioids, and special considerations on how to care for overdose patients.

This course is a self-directed eLearning course taken online via the Web or a Learning Management System (LMS). No hands-on skills session is required.  This course is intended for US audiences only.

This course includes the following modules:

  • Recognition and treatment of opioid overdose (use of naloxone and CPR as indicated)
  • Overview of the opioid epidemic and opioid use disorder
  • Pathophysiology of opioids leading to addiction

The Opioid Education for Non-Clinical Staff and Lay Responders is designed to educate students on the basics of the opioid epidemic and recognition of an overdose. The course teaches participants how to respond to a possible overdose, including how to deliver naloxone and activate the emergency response system*. The course also offers information on the importance of treatment options post-overdose. This course covers adults only.

* Knowledge of how to perform CPR using high-quality chest compressions and early use of an AED is highly recommended before taking this course.

 

Audience:

This course is designed for management and employees in workplace settings, non-clinical hospital and healthcare staff, and the general public. This course is particularly important for family and friends of people who are taking opioid prescription medicine or those with addiction.

This course is a self-directed eLearning course taken online via the Web or a Learning Management System (LMS). No hands-on skills session is required.

This course is intended for US audiences only.

 

This training is a 2-hour online course for employees at facilities where hazardous substances are present.

Employees who do not respond to releases but work in facilities where hazardous substances could be released must receive awareness training. Even if they evacuate the premises when a release occurs and do nothing, they are required annually to have Level 1 Awareness HAZWOPER training, so they know their responsibilities for emergency response in the event of a release.

HeartCode PALS

HeartCode® PALS is an online comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

 To enter the course, students must complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment. Students are then presented with 12 In-hospital patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. Cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%.

 Students who successfully complete the online portion of the course receive a certificate granting them access to a PALS Hands-on Session (sold seperatly) with an AHA PALS Instructor. Students must successfully complete both the online portion and the hands-on session to receive a PALS Provider course completion card (print or eCard).

PALS Provider – Pediatric Advanced Life Support – Renewal - AHA120R

Renewal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Class. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. This classroom, Instructor-led course incorporates a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to:

  • Pediatric assessment
  • Basic life support
  • PALS treatment algorithms
  • Effective resuscitation
  • Team dynamics

This is a 30-minute session that is taken after the online course is complete.  To do the skills check you will need to bring your Photo I.D. and a copy of the course completion certificate. The Skill Check focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols, and skills testing.

PEARS Instructor Essentials

The PEARS Instructor Essentials Course is taught in a blended-learning format. AHA PALS Instructor candidates must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on session conducted by PALS Training Center Faculty. Below are faculty and instructor candidate materials for teaching this course:
